Carolina Renaissance Festival Dedicates a Day to Deaf Awareness
Huntersville, NC – Fluent Language Solutions and Central Piedmont Community College are partnering with the Carolina Renaissance Festival to provide a renaissance experience for the deaf and hard of hearing on Saturday, November 2nd.
Certified American Sign Language interpreters will perform interpreted stage performances of popular Festival shows at several select stages located inside the 25-acre village (including the Joust). CPCC student interpreters will also be available to offer services.
Popular deaf and silent storyteller Dack Virnig will be visiting from New York to perform four shows as The Queen’s special guest. Dack’s amazing silent stories are filled with twists and turns – all told in American sign language. Don’t miss Dack’s performances at the Tree Top Stage. Anyone interested in deaf awareness is invited to share in this special occasion.
The Festival is offering deaf and hard of hearing adults with buy one, get one adult admission tickets. Deaf and hard of hearing children are admitted for free. Stop by the deaf awareness informational booth located outside the village entrance to receive discounts.
WIN TICKETS for a return visit and much more! Hunky Highlanders and non-kilt wearing Men are encouraged to show their stuff in the Men of Skills Competition! Contests include a Test of Strength, a Test of Confidence, and a Test of Skill. All in good fun! Prizes will be awarded. Contest 3:00 p.m. at The Haven (beyond the Edgewood Theatre) Huzzah!
Special guest musicians and Festival mynstrel’s present a bevy of your favorite Celtic music! Don’t miss CRAIC and The Reelin Rogues!
The Festival is also hosting a Men of Skill competition at 3:00 PM with prizes that include gifts from sponsors and tickets to return for another Festival day.
Event parking is free courtesy of Harris Teeter stores. Adult tickets are $25.00 and child tickets (ages 5-12) are $15.00 when purchased in advance at Harris Teeter stores or online at RenFestInfo.com. Tickets are $1 higher at the gate. Children under five are always free.
