Raffaldini Vineyards

450 Groce Rd, Ronda, NC 28670

Raffaldini Vineyards provides an authentic Italian experience, complete with food, wine, art and hospitality. When you visit the vineyards you will experience a sense of being in Tuscany as you stroll the landscaped grounds that feature olive trees, roses, rosemary bushes, lavender, fig trees and much more. You will see original Italian artwork in their Tuscan-style villa which overlooks a traditional Italian piazza centered around a beautiful fountain, all against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

They focus on hand-crafting Italian-style wines using traditional vineyard and winemaking methods as practiced by the Raffaldini family centuries ago. Their goal is that when uncorked, a bottle of Raffaldini wine will evoke the Italian ideals of a slower pace of life and an emphasis on friends, family and great food.

Shelton Vineyards

286 Cabernet Ln, Dobson, NC 27017

Shelton Vineyards’ belief is that fine wine begins in the vineyard. The location, in the heart of North Carolina’s Yadkin Valley, provides the ideal climate and soil conditions. Shelton Vineyards’ commitment to sustainable farming practices and hands-on attention enables the vineyard to produce the highest possible quality of grapes. The Shelton Vineyards’ wines are reflective of the terroir of the Yadkin Valley. Along with expert winemaking techniques, enhancing what their land has given us, Shelton Vineyards has produced many award-winning wines.

On the estate, several varieties of vitis vinifera grapes are grown: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Malbec, Tannat, Petit Verdot, Riesling,Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier.

Treehouse Vineyards

301 Bay St, Monroe, NC 28112

The Nordan family has had grapes on their vines on their Monroe, NC farm for over 50 years and had been making wine for their personal use. But, in 2004, they decided it was time to plant a vineyard in Monroe. The first vines of Treehouse Vineyards were planted in spring of 2005. Since then, they have planted eight varieties of muscadines, a grape native to the area. They now offer both viniferous and muscadine wines.

But, where do the treehouses come in? As a child, owner Phil Nordan was fascinated with building treehouses, in the spring of 1999, he’d decided to build one for his wife, Dianne, and him. This is now the treehouse they refer to as Date Night, it sits 30 feet in the air, overlooking the vineyard. They now even have a treehouse that allows wine lovers to stay overnight called Papa’s Dream.

Biltmore Estate Winery

This historic winery on Biltmore’s 8,000-acre estate nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.

When you visit, you will experience complimentary tastings, a wine bar, specialty tastings and more as part of your distinctive experience at America’s most-visited winery, located in the heart of Antler Hill Village. You can enjoy complimentary tastings of more than 20 of their handcrafted wines as their wine hosts take you on a journey through their reds, whites, and rosés. At their wine bar,  you can taste their reserve and sparkling wines by the glass along with delectable cheeses and locally-made truffles.

If you are interested in seeing their vineyards, they have exclusive Vine to Wine Tours that combine an excursion over the river to their breathtaking vineyards on the west side of Biltmore—an area that most guests never see—with a walking production tour and wine tastings throughout the experience.

Laurel Grey Vineyards

Nestled in the Yadkin Valley area of North Carolina, Laurel Grey Vineyards is a delightfully Southern vineyard and winery, located on farmland that has been nurtured by the Myers family for 10 generations. With the dream of preserving the family farm for future generations, Benny and Kim Myers planted their first grapes over 13 years ago and converted the old milking parlor into a tasting room. Named for the Myers’ two children, Ashley Laurel and Taylor Gray.

Laurel Gray Vineyards produces handcrafted Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Viognier, Pinot Gris and many more specialty blends.

Childress Vineyards

1000 Childress Vineyards Rd, Lexington, NC 27295

By opening the doors to Childress Vineyards in 2004, NASCAR team owner Richard Childress fulfilled a longtime dream that grew from the days when he first began racing in California and visited wineries with friends.

Childress Vineyards features 72 acres of vineyards and 11 varieties of European vitis vinifera cultivars at two vineyards sites: Richard’s Hampton Road Estate in Davidson County and Vineyard Crossing at the winery site.

Childress Vineyards produces a broad range of wines to appeal to both the introductory palate and the seasoned taster. More than 30 wines are produced including Classic house blends, premium varietals, a sparkling wine, dessert wines, Reserves, Signature Reserves and Muscadine wines. White varieties include Viognier, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. The red varieties of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Syrah.

Daveste Vineyards

155 Lytton Farm Rd, Troutman, NC 28166

In 2003, Owners Dave and Ester DeFehr envisioned planting a vineyard and bringing the first winery to Iredell County. After locating an ideal 52-acre pastoral setting the property was purchased in 2004. The land was then manicured to enhance its natural features and four acres of vines were planted in 2005. A modern, three-level bard was constructed on site to include a small winery. With all their efforts, they had their first harvest in 2006 which produced 500 cases of wine. Before opening the doors to their tasting room in 2008, they doubled production of their 2007 harvest from the year before.

They develop their wines in very small lots, with some estate wines totaling as few as 25 cases, and total production currently limited to 1,500 cases per year.

Old Stone Winery

6245 US-52, Salisbury, NC 28146

Old Stone Winery was founded in 2001 by Mark, Barbara and Marcus Brown. In the summer of 2009, Darin and Naomi Griffin purchased it after years of enjoying wine. The 130 acre estate currently has over 20 acres of Muscadine grapes planted in the vineyard. In addition to the Muscadines, Old Stone sources wine grapes as locally as possible, with many coming out of Rowan County. While many of their wines have won awards, several stand out. Their Sweet Muscadine wine won the 2008 Muscadine Cup and their 2007 Chambourcin won a Double Gold at the N.C. State Fair.

The winery features a gift shop, tasting bar,  two tank rooms and a peaceful outdoor pavilion. Tours and tastings are available daily.

Rocky River Vineyards

11685 Reed Mine Rd, Midland, NC 28107

Since 2003, Rocky River Vineyards has been growing muscadine grapes, which are indigenous to North Carolina, filled with antioxidants, and produce a sweet table wine. Their 45 acres are snuggled into the gently rolling hills of eastern Cabarrus County, with Big Meadow creek flowing through the property toward Rocky River, which is how the name was born.

Rocky River Vineyards wine ranges in flavor from a sweet, red or white muscadine wine to classic, dry varietals such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Merlot blend, among others. During your visit you can find unique gifts, keep an eye out for wild turkeys and deer as you wind through the woods, and over the creek along the walking trail, and enjoy a picnic on the grounds.

Dennis Vineyards Winery

24043 Endy Rd, Albemarle, NC 28001

Since beginning in 1997, Dennis Vineyards strives to produce top quality wines of all kinds for enjoyment by all, connoisseur and novice alike. Nestled in their own quaint little corner of North Carolina wine country, Dennis Vineyards is located in the small little town of Albemarle, just a short 40 minute drive from Charlotte. Specializing in the native grape of the South, the muscadine, the Dennis’ grow over ten different varieties of this unique and flavorful grape.

Dennis Vineyards produces over 30 different wines for enjoyment of wine lovers. From the very beginning, they have been producing wines in numerous sweetness levels. Many varieties come in dry, semi dry and sweet. Whether you prefer traditional dry French varietals, fruity muscadines or playful fruit wines, they will have a wine for you.
