Everyday ‘Holiday Heroes’ come to the rescue for Youth Villages’ children receiving care in North Ca

CHARLOTTE (Dec. 13, 2017) – Nearly 400 children who are receiving care through Youth Villages will receive gifts this holiday season thanks to a few Holiday Heroes in North Carolina. A Holiday Hero helps fulfill the holiday wish list for a child who has experienced trauma or has a history of emotional or behavioral health issues.

Last month, Youth Villages offices throughout the state petitioned their local communities to donate or shop to fulfill holiday wish lists for youth in their area. At an event in Asheville, more than 100 people gathered at Off the Wagon Dueling Piano Bar, where local heroes adopted all 125 youth.

“This is the time of year where family and friends embrace the generosity of the season to provide a child with specific items for the holidays,” said Bill Roberts, owner of Market Commercial Real Estate and a Youth Villages advisory board member. “It’s great to see our community come out and support Youth Villages and the less fortunate children they serve.”

In other parts of the state, staff partnered with local churches, businesses and community groups to ensure all kids will have gifts for the holidays. Youth Villages’ staff will deliver gifts this week.
