Texas-based Velvet Taco will serve chef-driven, non-traditional tacos that highlight global flavors and fresh, bold ingredients. White Point Partners and Atlanta-based Paces Properties are pleased to announce that Velvet Taco will be joining the tenant line-up at Optimist Hall. The food hall’s first group of tenants is slated to open in late summer, and Velvet Taco will join other concepts opening shortly thereafter. Founded in 2011, the Dallas, TX-based concept elevates the taco through globally-inspired recipes and unique, fresh ingredients. Optimist Hall marks Velvet Taco’s first North Carolina location, joining eleven other restaurants and one food hall stall in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Houston.

“As a long-time Charlottean and native Texan, I couldn’t be more excited to announce, on behalf of our partnership, that Optimist Hall will be bringing one of Texas’ best taco joints to Charlotte,” says Jay Levell of White Point Partners. He adds, “Velvet Taco’s unique flavor combinations coupled with the incredible quality will further add to the stout line-up in the food hall.”

Offering globally-inspired flavors drawn from the highest-quality ingredients, standout menu items include tacos like Spicy Tikka Chicken, Fried Paneer, Picnic Chicken, Falafel, Cuban Pig, and the Annatto Shredded Pork, plus brunch versions served all day. Side dishes, including Red Curry Coconut Queso and ‘Elote’ Corn, are also proven crowd favorites. In addition to these and other menu staples, each week, guests will be able to sample a new taco as part of the restaurant’s Weekly Taco Feature (#WTF).
