RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL supports AREA non-profits

Huntersville, NC – Only two weekends of raucous revelry remain of the wildly popular Renaissance Festival’s 26th annual season.  And these last two weekends offer visitors the opportunity to save on the cost of admission with the donation of charitable items at the gate.

November 16 and 17 is Time Travelers’ Weekend! The Festival encourages visitors to attend as they are or dress as their favorite characters inspired by film, comic books, and literature and “time travel” to the renaissance.  A costume contest will be held at 3:00 PM and popular local authors will be participating in a day-long book signing.  And children ages 12 and under are admitted for free with the donation of school supplies and/or books at the Festival entry and with items benefiting Classroom Central and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.  This weekend is made possible with the support of Parent Teacher Magazine.

November 23 and 24 is the Festival’s Final Huzzah of the season. Chomp a turkey leg before turkey day and don’t miss the last chance of the year to experience your best day out in history.  Children ages 12 and under are admitted for free with the donation of can food items at the Festival entry and with donations benefitting Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.

Additionally, over 100 non-profit organizations were selected by the Festival to be recipients of complimentary admission and silent auction prizes for fund raising purposes. “The Carolina Renaissance Festival is committed to supporting the important work of area non-profit agencies.  Each year the Festival makes available $300,000 in free admission opportunities in effort to support area non-profit organizations with the raising of funds and items for charitable purposes.” says Matt Siegel, the Festival’s Director of Marketing and Entertainment.

The Festival’s remaining two weekends also present an opportunity to save big on unique holiday gifts at the Festival’s artisan marketplace with many of the craft shops offering discount pricing on a diverse selection of handmade gift items.  The marketplace features over 140 vendors offering an array of unique handmade items.

The Carolina Renaissance Festival is a medieval amusement park, a 14-stage theater, a twenty-five-acre circus, an arts and crafts fair, a jousting tournament, falconry, swimming mermaids and a feast – all rolled into one, non-stop day long adventure.
