THE KAY YOW CANCER FUND HOLD 10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Raleigh, NC – The Kay Yow Cancer Fund will hold its 10th anniversary celebration tonight at Reynolds Coliseum on the campus of NC State University in Raleigh. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was officially founded on December 3, 2007, from the vision of Naismith Hall of Fame and Olympic Gold Medal winning coach, Kay Yow. To date, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has awarded $5.63 million in support of the fight against ALL women’s cancers.
The anniversary celebration will honor the Kay Yow Cancer Fund’s original and ongoing partners: NIKE, ESPN, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, and the V Foundation. Representatives from each entity will speak and be recognized for their impact on the fight against all women’s cancers through the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
In addition to the four original partners, the Fund will also recognize its first Executive Director, Marsha Sharp, as the first recipient of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund Impact Award. Coach Kay Yow’s home for 34 seasons, NC State University, will also be recognized as the all-time leader for fundraising in the Kay Yow Cancer Fund’s largest fundraising initiative, Play4Kay.
“The 10th anniversary celebration will be truly that—a celebration. Over the last 10 years, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has had a significant impact in the fight against ALL women’s cancers, thanks to the generosity of coaches, fans, and communities nationwide uniting to be a part of Coach Yow’s vision,” said Stephanie Glance, CEO of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. “If Coach Yow were here, she would be most appreciative of all that has been done, but she would encourage each of us to do more. That is what this event is about – appreciation for what has been done and igniting the vision for the future.”
